School Governors perform an increasingly important role in deciding the future direction of the school, in determining school policy, in monitoring school performance, in holding the school management accountable and in providing support to the staff team and the children. Governors are nominated by parents, teachers, the church, local council and community. They are a very important part of our school community and do their work voluntarily.

I have two children at Mordiford School, I live in the village and I work as a secondary school teacher.
I feel extremely fortunate and proud to have Mordiford as my local school, and have been very impressed with the all-round school experience and the standards of education provided.
As a governor, I am a member of the Admissions Committee, and the Curriculum Committee, and I am governor curriculum co-ordinator for history.
I am keen to see the school continue to succeed, and to keep our children fit and healthy with a deep understanding of their surroundings and wider environment.

I’ve always lived in or near Hereford and, until retiring in 2006, I worked in the County and General Hospitals. My husband, John and I moved from Hereford to Mordiford almost 20 years ago and feel very much at home here.
A major passion of mine is Life-Long Learning. began to study geology for my Open University degree in 1985 and, although I graduated in 1999 I’m still very involved with the university’s Geological Society, running a number of events every year.

We in the local community are extremely proud of our school.
We are very lucky to have dedicated teachers who work hard to make it succeed and I hope that I will be able to support their work to the best of my ability.

I have lived in Mordiford since 1978 and was the village Postmaster until 1985. I am now running my Honda Car Dealership in Worcester. I was a Parish Councillor for Mordiford for 12 years and was also Footpath Officer for the Parish. My wife Heather started the first Playgroup in Mordiford School in 1980 and all of our four sons attended the school.
I was the first Parent Governor appointed to the school in 1984 and I have been on the Governing Body since then, taking over as Chairman in 2000. The role can be time consuming as I endeavour to have a weekly meeting with the Headteacher, it can be challenging but always rewarding. I currently sit on the Finance and Premises, Personnel and Staffing Sub Committees. In my spare time I enjoy working on my two classic cars, walking, cycling and travelling, especially to New Zealand to visit my eldest son and family.

- Teacher Governor
- Health and Safety Curriculum Coordinator
- Sub Committees: Curriculum/ Breakfast Club/ After School Club
I have been involved with Mordiford School since my children were pupils here. I started the playgroup, then became a teaching assistant. My role of TA has changed greatly over the years. At first, I helped with general duties in different classes. Now I have much more specific roles and responsibilities.
I have just gained my qualification as a higher level Teaching Assistant.
In 2002 I was nominated as a staff Governor. Knowing the role holds great responsibility I have decided it was what I would like to do next. I have enjoyed becoming more involved with the organisation of the school though working with the Governing Body and the various committees on which I serve. I enjoy the variation of each day as no 2 days are ever the same.

I decided to join the governing body at Mordiford Primary in order to show my support to staff and my commitment as a parent to the school. I care greatly about the education children receive in schools and as a Primary School teacher myself (who is taking a short career break!) want to share any time and knowledge I may have, whilst working as part of a team, to support this already outstanding school.
I have three young children: Katie, Zac and Ben. Katie is currently in Reception and I feel very fortunate that she is experiencing the wonderful opportunities on offer at this highly successful village school.

The threat that suddenly came to bear on the school in early 2008 made me realise what a precious commodity we have in our community, and that if the school was worth fighting to save then, it was also worth continuing that effort in ensuring its future and development with the change to Foundation status, which is why I am happy to give up my time and effort for the benefit of the school.
I run a very small business locally, and enjoy the wonderful community we have as parents.

Following an international career in agriculture, on my return to the United Kingdom with my wife and three daughters, I was offered a teaching post at the Bishop of Hereford’s School in Tupsley in 1961. Two years later I joined the Hereford High School for oys (Latterly Aylestone School) as Head of Computing and was elected to the Board of Governors of Aylestone School to represent staff interests. I retired from teaching in 2002 to devote more time to my hobby of gardening. In 2006 I was invited to serve as a Community Governor on the Board of Mordiford School. I represent the Parish Council on the Board and the School on the Parish Council.

I have been a member of the Governing Body of Mordiford School since 2007 and am one of the Community Governors.
My wife and I have lived locally for some 20 years now and, although the family have long since grown up and moved away, I have an ongoing interest in the education of our grandchildren.
I recently retired after 40 years of work, the last 20 years with local and multi national companies. Prior to moving to Herefordshire I worked with a government agency in Wales and London.
I feel that I bring a breadth of experience to the role of Governor, particularly in aspects of management, auditing and the use of quality systems.
I welcomed the opportunity to be a Governor and to play a part in Mordiford School. It is good to be involved in the community and to be able to make a small contribution to the education of local children.

My name is Mrs Liz Kearns, I have been Headteacher at the school since September 2004. Since my appointment I have enjoyed excellent relationships with pupils, staff, parents, governors and the wider school community. I am a part of most of the sub committees of the governing body and have the ideal position of being part of the day to day running of the school, working in a team of talented and committed people.
The school continues to move forward and I enjoy the challenges that this brings.
I live within the school's catchment area with my husband and young son.

I became a Governor because I wanted to support the staff to provide the best learning environment possible for our children and am proud to be involved with such an outstanding school.
I am really keen for the school to be able use a wide variety of methods and influences that are appropriate and especially to use the outdoors as much as possible.
My two children are in school. As a family we enjoy being outdoors and do lots of walking, canoeing and camping when we are able.

I am here as the Church’s Lay Representative of our local Church, appointed by the Diocesan Board of Education. I was baptised, confirmed and married on Holy Rood Church, Mordiford. Generations of my family have lived in the village and attended Mordiford School (myself included, plus my sisters, parents and grandparents.)
I am married to Derek and we have four children – three of whom attend Mordiford School. I am very proud of the school and have wonderful childhood memories of it. I feel very privileged to be able to pass on its traditions and values to the children of today. My curricular interests are music, forest school and catering and I also serve on the Breakfast Club Committee.

I have been a member of the Governing Body for several years now as a Staff Governor. I joined the staff here at Mordiford as the Reception Class Teacher.

- Parent Governor
- Art and Modern Foreign Languages curriculum coordinator
- Sub Committees: Personnel and Staffing/ External Funding
I come originally from a publishing background, and currently work part-time as Business Development Manager at The Courtyard Arts Centre in Hereford. Mordiford's a great school- that's why I wanted to get involved! With my arts fundraising experience, I am trying to help the school develop a fundraising strategy and source alternative sources of external funding for capital items and project work, and at the same time am keen to work with the school on their arts provision. Having studied languages, I hope to be able to contribute to the foreign language teaching here and would like to get more involved in the Comenius project. At home I have 2 children- Jess and Dan and I enjoy running, cooking and going to films and the theatre.
